West Mountain Brewery/Hudgins Building
Tour Stop 28
West Mountain Brewery/Hudgins BuildingThe building on the right was built by H.M. Hudgins in 1887. The second floor was the popular Woods Opera House. This building later housed Budd's Department Store, JC Penney, and now houses a brewpub.
Notice the Pullis Brothers name on the iron columns. A competitor of the Mesker Brothers we saw earlier, they were also based out of St. Louis and supplied cast iron columns nationwide in the late 1800's.
It's too bad someone decided to cover up the original brick building with modern stucco. At one time there was a large Coca-Cola sign painted on the west wall, but it got covered up in 2011.
