Town Center / World Peace Fountain
Tour Stop 26
Town Center / World Peace FountainTo fill the gap and to create an open plaza space, the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission hired Wittenburg Delony and Davidson to design the Fayetteville Town Center. Completed in 2001, it is a multi-purpose convention center with over 25,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space.
GO TO WORLD PEACE FOUNTAIN IN FRONT OF TOWN CENTER
Directly in front of the Town Center is the Fayetteville World Peace Fountain. Created by local sculptor Hank Kaminsky in 2002, it is a bronze sphere that has the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in over 100 different languages. It weighs 8,000 pounds but is designed to be turned by hand like a prayer wheel. Go ahead, try it!
GO BACK TO MOUNTAIN STREET AND TURN LEFT
Much to everyone's surprise, these two buildings were discovered when the JC Penney's façade was pulled off in 1981.
