Fayetteville has had the longest continuous Earth Day festival in history. In 2012, Fayetteville celebrated Earth Day with more than 99 events held in a span of 40 days across the city. Earth Day began as a one-day event in 1970 to bring environmental protection and conservation into the forefront of the national political agenda.

The Fayetteville School District provides kindergarten through 12th grade education, as well as adult and community education programs. The district is comprised of 15 schools with an enrollment of more than 8,100. But numbers don’t tell the whole story.
