United Airlines to Offer Nonstop Flights from Northwest Arkansas to San Francisco
Things just got a little easier for people looking to travel from Fayetteville to the West Coast. Recently, United Airlines announced nonstop service to San Francisco from Northwest Arkansas. The first nonstop flight from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) departs Oct. 25 with the first flight back to California the following day. United has already begun selling tickets on the new XNA-SFO route.
The move by United Airlines fulfills a major air travel need for the area in many ways. It makes XNA the only airport in Arkansas with direct services to San Francisco and one of only 11 middle American airports with nonstop service to the Bay area. The flights are critical to the NWA business community as many Walmart vendors have offices there, and Walmart and Sam’s Club have e-commerce offices in San Bruno, a community near San Francisco. It also provides a gateway to Asia since SFO offers flights to Toyko, Beijing and Hong Kong.
The SFO-bound flights will depart Northwest Arkansas at 7:45 a.m., arriving in San Francisco at 9:47 a.m. Flights leaving San Francisco will depart at 1:30 p.m., arriving in Northwest Arkansas at 7:17 p.m. All flight times are local.
XNA currently offers 50 flights per day to major cities. The airport is served by five air carriers: Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and U.S.
