US Airways Publication Focuses on Northwest Arkansas

Magazine spread showcases vibrant international business, arts region

Six million airline passengers worldwide will discover on July 1 a 64-page section of US Airways Magazine focused on Northwest Arkansas tucked in the seatbacks of airplanes.

Regional partners, led by the Northwest Arkansas Tourism Association (NATA) and supported by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, came together to provide a team of writers with all the information and photographs necessary to ensure that the region’s top amenities become more known to a worldwide audience. The magazine is available on all US Airways flights throughout July.

“Our US Airways feature shows the power of partnerships,” said Sandy Luetjen, NATA’s board president. “Many of our partners would not have been able to take advantage of this opportunity on their own, but together we’re telling a national and international audience the story of Northwest Arkansas’ energy, creativity, and accomplishments.”

It’s believed the 64-page section is the largest amount of printed, tourism- and business-related information ever provided about Northwest Arkansas to a worldwide audience.

There are stories about Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the region’s other arts venues, Arvest Ballpark, Northwest Arkansas outdoor recreation opportunities, the University of Arkansas, John Brown University, the Dickson Street Entertainment District, the Museum of Native American History, and the Walton Arts Center. There’s attention given to the Razorback Greenway Trail, Beaver Lake, the region’s historic downtowns, annual festivals, the amenities in and around Eureka Springs, and the region’s largest companies.

The Northwest Arkansas feature will also be available at www.usairwaysmag.com, starting July 1, for the following year.

“Northwest Arkansas is an incredible region, and this collective effort will ensure that millions of people hear about all we have to offer,” said Marilyn Heifner, NATA’s treasurer. “We want to thank the many partners who contributed to telling our story and look forward to the continued success of our hospitality and tourism sectors.”
