Fayetteville Tour Guide Wins Hospitality Manager of the Year
Fayetteville, Ark. – The Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission is proud to announce that Julie Pennington, Group Tour Manager for the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau, is the recipient of the Arkansas Hospitality Association's 2011 Hospitality Manager of the Year award.
Pennington was presented with the award this past Monday evening at the Arkansas Hospitality Association’s annual Stars of the Industry Gala at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock. Fourteen other state-wide hospitality industry employees were also nominated for the title.
The Hospitality Manager of the Year award recognizes Pennington’s leadership and dedication in her position with the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau. She started working for the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission in 2004 as Sales and Events Representative for the Fayetteville Town Center. Prior to that, she had been a part of the local hospitality industry for over a decade. In 2006, she was promoted to Group Tour Marketing Manager at the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau. She serves on the board of the Arkansas Air Museum and volunteers for many community events, including “Trick or Treat on the Square” each Halloween, her favorite holiday.
“She never meets a stranger and is always an ambassador for not only Fayetteville but also Arkansas,” said Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission Executive Director Marilyn Heifner. “When she walks in almost any place, employees call her by name and she returns by asking them about some part of their life. She is the ‘Face of Fayetteville’.”
