Tenth Annual NWA Pride Celebration Set For June 16-19
The Northwest Arkansas Center for Equality has announced that Northwest Arkansas Pride, the largest LGBT pride celebration in Arkansas, will be held June 16-19 with events in Fayetteville and Bentonville. In the 10 years since the first official Pride Parade in Fayetteville, NWA Pride has become one of the fastest growing LGBT events in the region. Fayetteville sets the scene for several major events, including the annual Pride Parade along Dickson Street through the city’s Downtown Entertainment District, a one-night-only performance by “RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7” fan favorite Trixie Mattel and the annual White Party, among other popular events.
The multi-day festival is aimed at uniting the LGBT community and allies, as well as promoting acceptance. The NWA Center for Equality, a nonprofit providing free resources and services to the growing LGBT population in Washington and Benton counties, is the main sponsor of the festival, which has become one of the biggest annual events in Fayetteville.
“Every year, NWA Pride attracts more and more people, who come to celebrate diversity and simply have a great time with friends and family,” said Chaz Allen, president of the NWA Center for Equality. “It’s truly amazing how supportive the community is of NWA Pride, and we look forward to making this year’s events the best yet.”
