Block Street Block Party celebrates 5 years in Fayetteville

Block Street Block Party celebrates 5 years in Fayetteville
Come rain or shine, the Block Street Block Party will ring in 5 years in Fayetteville on Sunday, May 17 from noon to 9 pm!  The annual event draws visitors from around Northwest Arkansas. It’s a day of fun for all ages with everything from a bouncy castle to a bungee run. For their fifth anniversary, the Block Street Business Association decided to go bigger and better with new vendors and exhibits.

“We're super excited about the Arkansas brewers guild stage and beer garden,” said Hannah Withers, former president of the Block Street Business Association. “Featuring our recent local beer culture just makes sense at such a local centric party. We've found more and more interesting people and talents to highlight in each of the little quirky nooks and crannies on Block. Celebrating our fifth year as a festival is a monumental milestone for us. We can't wait!”

Other highlights include a doggie adoption center by the Animal League of Washington County, pony rides and even belly dancing. Every year, more and more people come out, which makes parking increasingly difficult. Withers suggested that people try to walk or bike to the event. Anyone who rides their bicycle can take advantage of valet bike parking by The Handlebar.

Lots of local artists, artisans and businesses will be on-hand. You can even buy Block Street Block Party swag, which helps support the event. Shoptolgy and Bank of Fayetteville will have photo booths as well. For any people visiting Fayetteville on May 17, Withers had this to share.

“Block Party is a fantastic slice of local culture that brings everything weird and independent in Fayetteville,” she said. “All our local artists, foodies, makers, non-profits and musicians bring their best and brightest. It's the one day of the year that all Fayettevillians make it out with their kids, dogs, grandmothers to celebrate the end of the school year and our independent side!”
