Fayetteville has long been a supporter of equal rights, and this is most prominently evidenced in the annual Northwest Arkansas Pride, which celebrates its 10th year in 2016. The event is the largest pride celebration in the state and has grown to become a multi-day festival including a parade, rally, vendor booths, parties, guest stars an interfaith fellowship gathering and more. The NWA Center for Equality makes all of this possible through the generosity of sponsors and individuals.
In December 2015, the Human Rights Campaign gave Fayetteville the highest rating in Arkansas in its annual Municipal Equality Index, an evaluation examining cities' "laws, policies and services, and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.”
The Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission signed on to be a Platinum Sponsor for the 2016 NWA Pride festivities and is proud to promote acceptance and equality for residents and visitors alike.
